ARTIST STATEMENT
PROCESS
“Even though the influence of street art is very evident in my work, inspiration can come from anywhere and staying open is essential. As a mixed media artist I mainly use collage, acrylics, spray paint and oils. However, I make space to explore other materials and experiment on a regular basis.
My work typically goes through three stages. In each stage I bring vulnerability and honesty which is always part of my process. In my first step I start a painting with play and curiosity, letting spontaneous marks happen. In the second stage I connect to my topic and the painting itself by asking, “what do you want to be?” I feel out the answer in any way I can. In my last stage as I near the completion I set my mind to gratitude and celebration.
This process keeps my intuition engaged and lets the creativity run wild.”
